With the onset of autumn, the vineyards are at their natural best and one of the most exciting times of the year, the harvest, is upon us. At the Harsányi Winery, harvest is not just a job, it is a tradition, a community experience and the culmination of a year's hard work. With the drought at the end of August and the sudden surge in sugar levels, we had to react quickly: we started the harvest in the last days of the year to produce good quality dry wine.

Harvest from Király Hill to Ciróka

First we picked the fruit from the Király Hill vineyard, where harvesters picked muscat and furmint Next came the Ciróka vineyard, where we harvested more furmint and hárslevelű (lindenblättriger), which are the basis of our sparkling and fresh wines.

For our vineyard-selected wines, the Furmint grapes are harvested gradually from the Király-Hill, the Ciróka and finally the Megyer vineyards. This year's highest yield was from the Ciróka vineyard, although the droughty summer held back the volume, so the 2024 harvest was slightly smaller than in 2023.

We still have some vines left in our fields, saving for a late harvest. Our furmint and muscat are intended to be the base for our sweet wines and we hope to have the opportunity to make aszú this year. The autumn weather, which arrived in the second week of September, will hopefully positively affect the grapes still on the vine.

The 2024 vintage wines of Harsányi Winery are once again promising, as our organically farmed grapes are healthy and have provided excellent raw material.
